Intermediate Rope Course

Shibari or Kinbaku is the art of erotic Japanese Rope Bondage – beautiful and engaging, it has a rich history and deep roots in Japanese culture.

Starting in February is our new syllabus based system. We have lesson plans for the entire remainder of the year. This guarantees that you can progress and won’t be unnecessarily repeating content.

The intermediate rope stream is broken down into 4 class courses. A new course will start each month. Each class will build in the previous ones in that course and each course is part of a larger progression. We have content for the syllabus planned through for all of 2017!

While it is not compulsory to complete prerequisites, we highly recommend them in order to get the most from the course.

We recommend having a partner to tie for the intermediate/advanced progression in order to practice hands on and receive . You will need your own rope.

Doors open 6:45 pm and classes begin 7pm sharp and will finish before 9pm. The Studio is open for supervised practice until 9pm.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement is ideal. Think gym or yoga clothes.

Do I need my own rope?

For the intermediate classes you will need to bring your own rope (Jute, linen or hemp). If you forget your rope we may be able to lend you some for the class but please don’t rely on this.

What kind of rope do you use?

We highly recommend and use Osada Steve Jute. For the style of rope bondage we teach 8 meter long, 6mm thick jute is ideal. We also have rope for sale at the Studio.

Do models pay too?

Our pricing is per person so everyone coming through the door needs their own ticket to attend.

What happens if I miss a class?

If you miss a class then speak to one of our instructors as you have a few options. You can attend the weekend intensive version to catch up and review or you can book a one-on-one catch up lesson with one of our instructors.

Do I have to have done the prerequisite course?

No. we do not enforce the prerequisites to attend our course. You may not be able to participate in some exercises due to safety concerns at our instructor’s discretion. Please also be aware that class content can not be modified to cover prerequisite material meaning you may not get the full advantage of attending.

Do I need a partner to tie?

We strongly recommend arranging a partner to tie for our intermediate and advanced content so that you can get hands on experience and receive feedback from the instructor (we consider this the most important aspect of learning).

I don’t have someone to tie/tie me up can you organise someone for me?

We don’t organise this ourselves. We recommend arranging this before coming to class. A great place to meet people for this is SKORE. Alternatively you can post on our facebook or fetlife looking for a partner.

What if I want to be tied up?

Please feel free to come along! There’s no harm in learning, and it’s a great way to get involved and start meeting people. We recommend that people who want to be tied attend this course too, it will give you a better understanding of Japanese Rope allowing you to make better informed decisions about safety and the skill of potential rope tops

What if I cant make four Thursday nights in a row?

We offer these courses in a day long intensive format throughout the year. You can book a private class with one of the team members to catch up.

Please note: All prices are per person
